Eviction Appeal Handling
When a tenant appeals an eviction judgment, the case moves to County Court at Law for a trial de novo (new trial). We guide you through the appeal process, including the tenant's bond requirements and the appeal-bond and pay-into-registry rules under SB 38 (effective January 1, 2026).

How it works
Receive notice of tenant's appeal within the 5-day window
Verify tenant has filed proper appeal bond or pauper's affidavit
Under SB 38: tightened pay-into-registry and appeal bond rules apply (Sections 24.0053, 24.0054)
Prepare for de novo trial in County Court at Law (new trial, not review)
Present case at County Court hearing with full evidence package
